Piano Master Class

On Wednesday 9th March, the Music Department had the fortunate opportunity to welcome Mr Richard Meyrick to St. Michael’s for a Piano Master class. Richard is a world renowned dynamically powerful pianist whose performances frequently bring audiences to their feet in rapturous acclaim for his “thrilling technical wizardry”. 6 Pupils from Year 11 and 12 GCSE music classes took part in the master class with Year 11 music students as their audience. This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience with all pupils walking away with a new mind frame for musical performance. Fáinne 2016

Irish Department hosted their annual Fáinne night on Thursday February 25th in the Halla Pobail. A large crowd attended to see the studnets rewarded for their hard work and success in the Irish oral exam. Guest speaker, renowned Irish author Séamas Mac Annaidh , presented An Fáinne Airgid ( Silver Fáinne) to 73 Year 10 students and An Fáinne Óir ( Gold Fáinne) to three A Level Irish students, Domhnall Lynam, Jamie Graham and Ruairí Kelly. Séamas , himself a past pupil of the college, gave an inspiring and motivating speech to the students . St. Michael's Host BRINGITON and PWC in Promoting Careers in IT

We were delighted to welcome back Enda McKenna (BRINGITON) to the school to present to the GCSE students the opportunities that exist in the IT sector. He highlighted to the boys the critical shortage of skilled IT professionals in NI and the numerous career options available. In the second session he made the year 13/14 boys aware of the alternative pathways available to them in getting into the sector. In particular he focussed on the Apprenticeship scheme in which 15 student from across NI will be given the chance to apply for an apprenticeship position with one of the top firms in NI.
