Irish Department hosted their annual Fáinne night on Thursday February 25th in the Halla Pobail. A large crowd attended to see the studnets rewarded for their hard work and success in the Irish oral exam. Guest speaker, renowned Irish author Séamas Mac Annaidh , presented An Fáinne Airgid ( Silver Fáinne) to 73 Year 10 students and An Fáinne Óir ( Gold Fáinne) to three A Level Irish students, Domhnall Lynam, Jamie Graham and Ruairí Kelly.
Séamas , himself a past pupil of the college, gave an inspiring and motivating speech to the students . He spoke to them enthusiastically about learning Irish in school , studying in Coleraine and about the many doors Irish has opened for him, with his writing, travel and a variety of media work , including a recent six part series “Ar Shlí na Fírinne “ on TG4.
