St Michael’s College have been fortunate to secure sponsorship from Three Valleys Veterinary for kit for their junior rugby squad. The school have been developing rugby provision with the support of Enniskillen RFC and Ulster Rugby as part of a development to provide further sporting opportunities for pupils to represent the school.
Whilst the Covid pandemic has reduced opportunities across all sports the boys have managed to play in several matches against Devenish College and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and St Michael’s College will be entering teams in Ulster Schools competitions across several age groups next year.
Principal Mark Henry commented, ‘With growing popularity and a wide appeal rugby is a sport which caters for all shapes and sizes and the boys are gaining a lot from being coached and their participation in matches. It’s great to see so many of the lads being given the opportunity to play for the school and we are extremely grateful to Noel Doyle and Brendan Fee from Three Valleys Veterinary for providing the sponsorship so the Junior rugby teams will have a proper identity.’
