German Dept Spelling Bee

The German Department held its first Spelling Bee recently, and with fantastic Borussia Dortmund themed prizes up for grabs, there was great excitement for the event. The competition was based on the boys' vocab from Year 9 & 10 to date. Each round had ten words called out, to be spelled correctly.

After ten rounds, Oliver Hughes Jordan (10O) proved to be the Deutschmeister, with an unbelievable score of 100 out of 100 - wunderbar! Mind you, Dara McKenna (10P) was just a single point behind with 99/100!! He is blaming Herr Rasdale for mispronouncing the word 'geduldig'!!! Cahal Rafferty was in third with a similarly outstanding score of 96/100. Absolut klasse, Jungs!

Sportliche Oliver won a Borussia Dortmund top, Dara will keep his head warm this winter in his new Borussia Dortmund Beanie Hat, while Cahal will be eating his porridge out of a Borussia Dortmund cereal bowl. Consolation BVB Dortmund exercise books went to Niall Spillane, Tom Kettyles, Ronan McCaffrey, Darragh McPhillips, Odhran Mulligan, Darragh Schmidt and Kevin Greene. Someone in the German department is obviously a Borussia Dortmund fan!

Well done to all involved!
