St. Michael’s Students Top in Northern Ireland

Each year the examinations body CCEA organise an awards ceremony for students who have been placed 1st in Northern Ireland in GCSE and A’ Level subjects. This year St. Michael’s College had the distinction of having three of their students invited to the event which took place just before Christmas. Oisin Harbinson was placed 1st in Northern Ireland in GCSE Irish, Cathal Rafferty was placed 1st in GCSE Design & Technology and Tom Gaffney was placed 1st in GCSE German. The boys received their awards from CCEA Chief Executive Justin Edwards. D'Alton Cup team

A pleasant January day with a blue sky and these year 9 boys all happy to be out of school!!! This was the first competitive game for this team in the competition. Like ALL St Michaels Teams, they really put their heart and soul into it! Unfortunately their gallant effort just fell short in the end with the final score: St Michaels : 3-6 Abbey CBS Newry: 5-5 Early in the game the boys leaked a couple of goals but they recovered so well and really learnt a valuable lesson about the need for hard work and resilience. So its with a very positive mind that we look forward to our game next week against St McCartan's College, Monaghan.
