NI Robotics Challenge

Some of the year 9 pupils competed in the Northern Ireland heat of the Robotics Challenge. The competition was organised by Tomorrows Engineers and run through Sentinus. It took place in Belfast City Hall and roughly 20 schools took part. The boys came 3rd overall and won one part of the competition – the mat challenge. The teams who came 1st and 2nd go forward to the UK finals in Birmingham. The pupils who took part were Fionn Mc Barron, Sean Og Donnelly, Sean Guild, Alex Knight, Conan Donohue, Conor Darcy , Patrick Magee, Ben Maguire, Dara Burns, Dara Margetts, Daragh Mc Elroy, Ben Mc Cormack.

£5600 Raised for Concern

There was a fantastic response to the Concern Fast. Students raised £5600 by completing a 24 hour fast, a 12 hour fast or a Miss a Meal. Well done to everyone who successfully finished their fast and raised money Included in photo top fundraiser from each year group. First Lego League Robotics

St. Michael’s College represent Northern Ireland in the IET First Lego League Robotics UK and Ireland Finals A team of budding engineers from St. Michael’s College has won the University of Ulster, IET First Lego League Robotics competition which took place on 23rd January in Magee College, Derry. The team of year 8 and year 10 students mentored by their teacher, Mrs Donnelly, came away with the judges’ award for the best robot design as well as winning the overall competition as the best performing team over the three categories: robot performance, presentation and core values.
