The December presentation of Merit Certificate Awards took place recently in St Michael’s College. Head of Key Stage 3 Mr Garvan Gallagher said, “The purpose of the Merit System can be summed up in one word - encouragement. Boys earn points on a weekly basis. These are awarded for excellence in such areas as homework, contribution to extra-curricular activities, good behaviour and academic improvement. The certificates will form part of student’s official school record and are awarded monthly on the basis of points achieved. It is yet another strand of the holistic approach to education in St Michael’s College.”
